Welcome to another exciting episode of Barrel Room Chronicles! I'm your host, Kerry Moynahan, and today we dive into the second half of my coverage of the 2024 WSWA Conference in Las Vegas. This episode is packed with fascinating conversations and insights into the world of whiskey and spirits.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Steve McPherson and his wife Tracy about their brand, Ignition Kentucky Bourbon. We discussed their unique hand-etched and hand-painted bottles, which are true works of art. Tracy, the designer, shared the inspiration behind their designs and the meticulous process involved. Steve explained how they source their bourbon from Kentucky, create their own mash bill, and blend it to perfection. Their bourbon, proofed down from 104 to 96, offers a softer feel and has been well-received so far.
Next, I chatted with Jim Hand, co-founder of Hand Barrel Bourbon. Jim shared the story behind their innovative barrel-shaped bottles and their journey in the premium spirits market. We explored their different whiskey varieties, including their single barrel, small batch, and double oak offerings. Jim also discussed their plans for wider distribution and their ability to customize bottles for businesses and special events.
Finally, I spoke with Harvey Williams from Delta Dirt Distillery. Harvey shared the inspiring story of his family farm in Arkansas and their journey into the spirits industry. Delta Dirt's vodka recently won double gold at the competition, and they have exciting plans for the future, including the release of their own Arkansas Brown spirit. Harvey's passion for his craft and his family's legacy is truly inspiring.

Co-founder & CEO
Harvey grew up farming around the heart of the Delta in Lee and Phillips County, Arkansas . He earned a degree in Biological & Agricultural Engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and MBA at Thomas More University, Crestview Hills, Kentucky. Harvey went on to have a 30 year career in the food industry. He and his wife Donna raised three wonderful children in places all across the US. However the goal was to one day return to their home state of Arkansas. The other was to find a way to be connected to their 4th generation family farm. The idea of starting a farm distillery checked their boxes for building a business rooted deep in family and farm. They chose sweet potatoes from the farm to craft a world class vodka; thus birthing Delta Dirt Distillery. Together he and Donna have made a personal commitment to themselves and their community to “Raising Spirits in the Delta”.
